Internationally recognized judge of 12 years, Judge Joe Tackett is the recipient of the highest dog training awards in the world. Joe's German Shepherd kennel, Ironwood Shepherds, was established in 1966. Throughout the last 45 years, he has earned an excellent reputation, holding many highly responsible positions in the dog training world. |
|
| |
| Joe received USA's Gold Medal for proven achievements in dog training in the areas of obedience, tracking, and Schutzhund protection. Joe was honored by the S.V. (German Verin ü Deutsche Schaferhunde) in West Germany by being awarded the Diamond and Gold Masters Sports Medal, the highest medal of its kind awarded in the world. |
| |
| Mr. Tackett is founder of The United Schutzhund Clubs of America, along with the late Gernot Reidel, Jerry Slavens and other prominent individuals. Before the Club was founded, the word "Schutzhund" solely meant "protection dog." Today, Schutzhund encompasses far more—very advanced obedience and tracking as well as the ultimate in safe protection training. Schutzhund is truly "The Olympics" of dog training. The genuine Schutzhund dog is not only a working competition dog, but also the ideal family companion and protector who is safe with children, but willing to die for his or her family. |
| |
| Joe was selected to represent the USA on a team sent to Europe for world competition. Ironwood's Shoshoni SchH III, Mr. Tackett's German Shepherd dog, was the first American bred dog to qualify as a team member Bred, Trained and Handled By Owner. Mr. Tackett and Shosnoni, better known as "Nicky", competed in obedience, tracking and protection both nationally and internationally. |
| |
In addition to Joe's accomplishments, his wife Victoria has also been recognized in the dog training world. Mrs. Tackett earned USA's Gold Medal for proven achievements in dog training in the areas of obedience, tracking, and Schutzhund protection. Victoria holds the honorable distinction of having raised and trained the highest scoring dog in the United States in Schutzhund II in obedience, tracking, and protection. Mrs. Tackett achieved in Schutzhund tracking what exceptionally few trainers have accomplished in a recognized Schutzhund trial: a 100% perfect score!
Throughout her career, Mrs. Tackett has trained and shown many dogs with great success. Victoria has also trained a wide variety of temperamented dogs in tracking and obedience, and has a track record of saving "ruined dogs." |

| By choosing to benefit from Mr. Tackett's expert coaching, you also can learn to successfully handle and train your own dogs with confidence. |
